Healthcare Facilities in Mount Abu
Till the 80s, there was hardly any formal healthcare facility present in Mount Abu. This hilly area is popular for many ayurvedic herbs and shrubs leading to the generation of many ayurvedic doctors locally called the “Vaidhs.” They treated the locals who are basically tribals with various medicines made from herbal plants.
With time, allopathic medicine has reached a new high across the world leading to the formation of the first international hospital in Mount Abu, named J Watumull Global Hospital & Research Centre in 1991.
J Watumull Global Hospital & Research Centre
This hospital was formed by the Brahma Kumaris who are a socio-spiritual organisation with the mission to provide free health consultation and free or subsidised allopathic treatment facilities to the poor and needy. Many good doctors are being invited from different parts of India to provide world class treatment to the residents of Mount Abu and the entire Sirohi district. The hospital had been built with all the advanced healthcare facilities, operating theatres and has all the departments of medicine like cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, dietetics & wellness, E.N.T., gynaecology, medicine, neuropsychiatry, obstetrics, ophthalmology, orthopaedics (includes joint replacement surgery), paediatrics, physiotherapy, plastic surgery, general surgery (includes urology surgery), surgical gastroenterology and laparoscopic surgery.The hospital authority from time to time has implemented different small health camps in the remote villages of Mount Abu. There is a 24X7 pathological laboratory present in the campus. The campus also has a fully equipped blood bank and out patient facility.
Brahma Kumaris
This ayurvedic community started their operation in 1950, making Mount Abu their headquarter. They are into the alternative medicines giving relief to patients through their Raja Yoga Meditation and different stress free treatments. Over the years, this community is reaching out to helping the poor tribals of Mount Abu with free medical camps, meditation campaigns and women empowerment through spirituality programs.
