The modern day Mount Abu has its own small Municipal Corporation, which monitors the place for any illegal activities, as the government of India identifies this as a special zone. The municipality keeps a track on any illegal construction, scrutinizes the passed building plan and proper road construction. As a boon from the sudden explosion of tourism in the area, the town has now got well lit roads, safe water and sanitation facilities. Mount Abu is a plastic free zone and it is for the Municipality to keep a track on the daily garbage disposal.

Apart from the municipality, Mount Abu also has few non government organizations (NGO) which devote themselves in societal improvements, women empowerment and in assistance to improve the agricultural activities.

Jan Chetna Sansthan

Jan Chetna Sansthan (JCS) is a prominent NGO in Mount Abu, with it's head office at Abu Road. The primary goal with which JCS is works is tribal development in the entire Rajasthan. They also assist the poor tribals to find avenues to earn their livelihood, maintenance of health, education, women empowerment and agricultural rights.
The main objectives of this NGO are:
  • improving the daily life of the tribal women and children
  • find out and release all the poor working as bonded laborers
  • proper collection of wages
  • drought proofing
  • build communal harmony
  • various education programs
  • right over the Forest Land
JCS has its own secured credit group which is helping the tribal and rural people with proper savings scheme. This organization is also helping the backward society of Mount Abu with development programs in agriculture, cattle rearing and other small scale activities.

Brahma Kumaris Society

This society is basically an ayurvedic community, which helps the poor and needy of Mount Abu and its surrounding places with medical facilities. They also reach out to assist the poor tribal of Mount Abu with free medical camps, meditation campaigns and women empowerment through spirituality programs.

There is a separate NGO wing present, with able volunteers helping the hill station with community development, child health checkups and safe drinking water supply.

Few of the other well known NGOs operating in the region are, Caress Welfare Society, Abu Agro Products Co-operative Society Ltd. They work as charitable trusts, collecting funds to help the poor and needy with quality life. They are even helping these tribal communities to come out of their societal bindings and modernize.
