Mount Abu is a famous and only hill station in the state of Rajasthan. It is located in the district of Sirohi at a height of 1219 m above the sea level. Located at a walking distance from the main market and almost 80% of hotels and restaurants in Mount Abu are located near this Lake; hence Nakki Lake is also called as the heart of Mount Abu. This lake was named as Nakki because the people here believe that this was dug by gods using their nails hence, they consider it as holy lake and worship it. Nakki Lake is located at a height of 1200 m above sea level and is also the only artificial lake in India which is situated at that height. Since it is one of the most visited tourist spots in Mount Abu, in 2006-2007 Nakki Lake was granted a huge financial boost along with eight other lakes in India for their protection.

Sunset Point: A pleasant place or view point where people visit to watch the sun set in the most peaceful atmosphere. This place is located in the south west of Nakki Lake and is visited by hundreds of visitors daily. It is surrounded by hills and the climate here makes a perfect place to visit in the evenings. It has food stalls and shops around the area and is one among the favorite spots for the tourists. Very closely located to this sunset point is the honeymoon point.

Achal Garh in Mount Abu

Rana Kumbha who was responsible for many huge fortresses in southern Rajasthan has commissioned this Achalgarh which is sometimes spelt as Achalgadh. This place is considered to be one of the most beautiful medieval monuments of Rajasthan. It is located at just 8 km from the town of Mount Abu and connected by road.

Situated at a height of 1722 meters from the sea level, Gurushikhar is must visit place for everyone who visits Mount Abu. It is not only the highest peak of Mount Abu but also in the whole Aravali Mountain range. It is also home for many historic temples among which the Guru Dattatreya is famous. Dattatreya is considered to be god in western Indian regions. Dattatreya is considered to be the incarnation of three famous divine gods Brahma, Vishnu and Siva.

At the peak just a bit to the north-west of Guru Shikhar, one can visit the shrine dedicated to Ahilya, the mother of Dattatreya.

The Adhari temple is reached by climbing 365 stairs carved into the mountain. This temple is situated in a cave and is most famous religious themed tourist destination in this region. There is a small opening into the cave which leads to the temple. The Adhari temple is dedicated to goddess Durga and has got its name because the legend has it that “Adhar” of Mataji fell in here and is believed that the image of the goddess was found hanging in the mid air. Most visited pilgrimage by many, the Adhar Devi temple receives very good number of pilgrims during the nine days of Navaratri season. The Adhari temple contains beautifully sculpted statues making it a picturesque view of the surrounding mountains and forests.

This sanctuary is located in the Aravali mountain ranges which are considered to be one of the oldest mountain ranges in the year 1980. It covers almost 19 km in length and 6 km in breadth. The evergreen forest and its beautiful floral beauty will make us attracted to its serenity. About 820 species and 112 plant families are present here and this place is most popular destination for adventurous tourists.

Once only a place for saints to meditate, now a famous destination for the visitors of Mount Abu. Located around 5 km from the Hanuman temple which can be reached by climbing down 700 steps, this place is built as a dedication to saint Vashisth. A belief that Saint Vashisth has meditated here and this place is the place which has created four major Rajput clans. Cow is considered to be the sacred animal here and the Nandi, Lord Shiva’s bull is also present here. A Large marble statue of cow has been built here where stream of water flows from the mouth of the marble cow. This area is covered by a thick forest and is not advisable to be visited by anyone without proper guidance.
